Opening of the Artists-cosmists Exhibition "On the Brinks of Other Worlds..."

On October 8, 2011 the International Centre of the Roerichs saw the opening of the artists-cosmists exhibition «On the Brinks of Other Worlds...» in the framework of the International Scientific Public Conference «Living Ethics as Creative Impulse for Cosmic Evolution».

The exhibition was opened by Madam L.V. Shaposhnikova, First Vice President of the ICR, Director General of the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich, Honored Art Worker of Russia.

Madam Shaposhnikova emphasised that artists-cosmists paintings bear special cosmic energy. Nowadays the true art often is ahead of the science, but not everyone is ready to perceive new ideas. That is why it takes artists-cosmists a great effort to struggle through the wall of misunderstanding.

Mrs Natalia Cherkashina, ICR Deputy Director General, noted in her speech that the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich is among the few institutions that collect paintings by artists-cosmists professionally and purposefully. The exhibition included about 60 paintings by such well-known artists as Viktor Chernovolenko, Oleg Vysotsky, Igor Anisiforov, Alexander Maranov, Boris Smirnov-Rusetsky, Feodosia, Lola Lonely.

The exhibition was opened on the eve of Nicholas Roerich's birthday (October 9), as he was one of the most illustrious representatives of this artistic direction.
