Helena Roerich Academy of Arts (for Children) sees off its Students for Winter Vacation
On November 26, the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) held a Closing Ceremony of the Academic session at the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts (for children). The celebration took place in the Green Theater of the IRMT, where dressed up children and their parents, as well as teachers of the Academy and the staff of the Roerichs Trust gathered. A musical prayer to the Goddess Saraswati was performed, and Suresh Kumar and Larisa Surgina, the Indian and Russian Curators of the IRMT, welcomed everyone.

“Roerichs: the Indian Way.” Svetoslav Roerich’s Birthday at the IRMT
On October 22, 2023, the Roerich Estate celebrated the 119-th birth anniversary of Svetoslav Roerich – an artist, sage and public figure, founder of the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT, Naggar) and the International Centre of the Roerich (ICR, Moscow), the youngest son of Nicholas and Helena Roerich. Svetoslav’s portrait was placed under a four-trunked pine-tree near the Roerichs’ house, by tradition, shanti-puja was held, uniting Indian, Russian and Belarusian guests in a sacred prayer.

Nazima V.K.'s Art Exhibition at the Roerich Estate
From October 14 to 16, the International Roerich Memorial Trust hosted an exhibition of Indian artist Nazima V.K. The exhibition was inaugurated by guests from Russia Tamara Merges and Vasily Tkachev, heads of the volunteer group of the International Center of the Roerichs (Moscow). The artist and all visitors of the exhibition were cordially welcomed by Suresh Kumar, Indian Curator of the IRMT.

The Round Table “Roerichs: the Indian Way” at the IRMT
On the birthday of the great Russian artist, scientist and thinker Nicholas Roerich, the International Roerich Memorial Trust held a Round table dedicated to the Roerich family’s stay in India. The Round table was attended by the volunteers of the International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR, Moscow), the members of the creative Family Club “Semitsvetik” (Troitsk, Russia), Indian and Russian guests.
On Sunday, October 8, the Roerich Estate in Naggar welcomed guests. On this day there was a festival to mark the 149th Birth Anniversary of Nicholas Roerich, the great Russian artist, thinker, scientist, whose work is recognised as a national treasure of India.
On October 5 the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) hosted the International Children and Youth Festival of Russian-Indian Friendship “Russia-India: from Heart to Heart” organized by volunteers of the International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR, Moscow) in close cooperation with the IRMT and its Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children.

On the eternally existent and the immutable.... Hem Lata Thakur's exhibition at IRMT
Hem Lata Thakur is an artist from Manali (HP). She has no professional art education, but her natural talent and ardent desire to express her feelings and impressions with the help of colors have determined her creative way.
On June 28-30, her first exhibition was held at the International Roerich Memorial Trust. The exhibition was inaugurated by Carol Fraser, an artist from England and long-time friend of the IRMT, and Larisa Surgina, Russian curator of the IRMT, an employee of the International Center of the Roerichs (Moscow), as well as Indian and Russian staff and guests of the Roerichs' Estate.
It so happened that the main theme and the main characters of the exhibitions, which opened on May 28, 2023 in the IRMT, were women and their creativity.
An exhibition of paintings by renowned artist Sadhna Sangar and her associates from the “WE” Group, Chandigarh was held at the International Roerich Memorial Trust from May 28 to 31, 2023. Mrs. Sunayana Sharma, District Tourism Development Officer, was the Chief Guest at the grand opening of the exhibition titled “Divine Strokes”. The artists were also welcomed by the Indian and Russian curators of the IRMT, the head and members of the creative women's group of the CHAP Foundation, guests and staff of the Roerich Trust.

An exhibition of paintings by renowned calligrapher Harish Verma from Jalandhar (Punjab) was held at the Exhibition Hall of the International Roerich Memorial Trust. The exhibition was inaugurated on June 11, 2023.
Harish Verma is widely known for his achievements in the arts and has won several prestigious awards. His main passion is calligraphy, the ancient art of writing for which India is famous.

In Bangalore, the capital city of the state of Karnataka, the Svetoslav Roerich and Devika Rani Roerich Estate Board is undertaking a major effort to inspect, conserve and restore the collection of Dr. Svetoslav Roerich’s paintings.
The traditional spring children’s painting competition was held at the International Roerich Memorial Trust on April 18, 2023. It was dedicated to several dates at once: the International Day of Monuments and Sites, the 115-th birth anniversary of Devika Rani Roerich and also the start of the new phase of the Children and Youth Festival of Russian-Indian Friendship “Russia - India: from Heart to Heart”.

On November 14, Bal Divas, or Children's Day, is celebrated annually in India. This holiday was established to honor the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru, a prominent statesman and the first Prime Minister of independent India.

Meeting with actress Deepti Naval at the Roerich Estate
“The evening of the ninth of October. At the entrance to the Conference Hall stood a short stately woman in a beautiful red and maroon sari. It was at once clear that she was Deepti Naval. I was fortunate to have the chance to interview Ms. Deepti and ask her questions about her family, her films and her childhood.” This is how Elena Ashikova, a guest from Russia and member of the Russian Family club ‘Semicvetik’ (Moscow), who acted as a host at the presentation of Deepti Naval's new book ‘A Country Called Childhood,’ described her first impression of the meeting with the famous Indian actress. The presentation took place at the International Roerich Memorial Trust on Nicholas Roerich's birthday, during the Russian-Indian Roerich Festival of Culture. The meeting with Deepti Naval at the Roerich Memorial Estate was not accidentally held on the birthday of the Russian artist. The fact is that her father Udaychandra Naval was acquainted with Nicholas Roerich and throughout his life kept precious memories of visiting the Roerichs' house in Naggar. Deepti Naval has devoted pages of one of the chapters of her new book to these memories.
The second day of the Conference in the International Roerich Memorial Trust organized by the Himachal State Museum (Shimla, India) in cooperation with the International Roerich Memorial Trust, the International Centre of the Roerichs (Moscow, Russia) and “Faraon” Historic Films Studio (St. Petersburg, Russia) was opened with an inspiring talk by Dr. Om Kumar Sharma, the founder and head of the Sanskrit School in Kullu, India.
On October 10–11, 2022 within the framework of the October Roerich Festival of Culture at the International Roerich Memorial Trust the International Scientific Conference “Cultural Heritage of Himalayas and Work of the Roerichs: Significance for Future” took place. Opening of the First Monument of George Roerich in India at the International Roerich Memorial Trust
The opening of the bronze bust of George Roerich on the grounds of the Roerichs Estate Museum in Naggar was one of the most solemn event of the October Cultural Festival in the IRMT. This significant event took place on October 9, the birthday of the great Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. "How George is needed," Nicholas Roerich wrote of his eldest son, "an Indologist, a Sanskritist, a Tibetologist and a Mongolist, who not only deeply studied the sources, but also spoke languages – an unprecedented combination, so necessary when the importance of Asia has risen". The monument to George Roerich was opened next to the memorial building of the Institute of Himalayan Studies "Urusvati", of which he was the permanent director and one of the founders.

October Indo-Russian Cultural Festival in the Roerichs' Estate in Naggar
The first half of October was marked by the bright events in the International Roerich Memorial Trust. The traditional Russian-Indian Festival of Culture gathered many guests from different countries at the Roerichs’ Estate. This year the Festival was dedicated to the three great dates: the 75-th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and India; the 120-th Birth Anniversary of George Roerich and the 30-th Anniversary of the International Roerich Memorial Trust in Naggar. The Festival's main guest was Mr. Denis Alipov, Russian Ambassador to India, Vice President of the IRMT. Among the honoured guests of the Festival were the representatives of the Kullu district administration, the members of the Trustees Board of the International Roerich Memorial Trust, the delegation from the International Centre of the Roerichs (Moscow) as well as scientists, researchers, journalists, artists, numerous admirers and followers of the great Russian family.

George Roerich’s Birthday in the International Roerich Memorial Trust
George Roerich studied Buddhism thoroughly, comprehending that Knowledge which Buddha had brought for the humanity two and a half thousand years ago. That’s why in the Roerich Trust there has been established a good tradition to observe the scientist’s birthday along with representatives of Buddhism, arranging exhibitions of the Buddhist art. This year for the exhibitions in the Conference-hall there have been presented the works from the IRMT Modern Art collection. Among the exhibits there were the reproductions of the thangkas which were gifted to the Roerich Trust in 2016 by their authors, the masters of Tibetan art Sarika Singh and Master Locho from Dharamsala.

Painting Exhibition “Tuning of Nature” by the Punjab Artists Group
From June 18 to 21, 2022 the group painting exhibition by the artists from Indian state Punjab took place in the Modern Art Exhibition Hall of the International Roerich Memorial Trust. Four artists participated in the exhibition: Manprit Kaur (Ludhiana), Harsha Verdhan (Jalandhar), Naveen Kumar (Hoshiarpur), and Babita (Jalandhar). About seventy paintings were presented in the exhibition, whose leading idea was love for nature. Himachal landscapes captured in different seasons and made mainly in the “wet water-colour” technique conquered the exhibition guests by soft colour fusions, airy depth of the space and by conveying a special atmosphere peculiar to Himalayan slopes and valleys.
On June, 22, 2022 in the Exhibition Hall of the IRMT there was an opening of another group exhibition of Indian modern artworks. The paintings of eighteen artists were presented at the exhibition organized under the guidance of the curator – artist Sikander Jangra from Delhi.

May 18, 2022 – International Museum Day in the Roerichs Estate (Naggar, Kullu, XII, India)
Mr Ashutosh Garg, the head of Kullu district administration, director of the IRMT, was invited as the Chief Guest to the festival at the International Roerich Memorial Trust. And Mr Ashok Thakur, the lifelong IRMT trustee, was the Guest of Honour. The festival day started with the essay writing competition in which on IRMT invitation the children from the eleven schools of Kullu valley took part. The subject of the competition was “The Power of Museums”, the slogan ascertained for the Museum Day this year.
The traditional Roerich Festival of Culture was held on April 30 – May 1 in the International Roerich Memorial Trust. The main characters of the festival were Svetoslav Roerich, the younger son of Elena and Nicholas Roerich, and Devika Rani, his beautiful Indian wife.

In this House a great Russian artist and his wife, an outstanding thinker, had lived for about twenty years, since the end of 1928 up to the beginning of 1948.

Christmas in Memorial Roerichs Estate
Joyful children’s voices marked the day of Christmas 25th December 2021 in Memorial Roerichs Estate. Children of the International Roerich Memorial Trust’s team and kids of Naggar and surrounding villages came running to the IRMT since morning in waiting for the traditional celebration and Christmas gifts. The children were met by Santa Claus or, in Russian tradition, Grandfather Frost. He became the Chief Guest of the exhibition that was opened at that day in the Exhibition Hall of the IRMT.

Inauguration of Art Group “MAHSU ART” exhibition in the IRMT
On July 3rd 2012 “Oneness” exhibition of young Indian artists was opened in the Modern Art Exhibition Hall of the IRMT. The artists represent International Art Group “MAHSU ART” from Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. This group headed by the Director Mrs. Rita Singh allows young artists to show their works and visions of art that they consider as a way for bridging humanity. Devika Rani, Magic Romantic Flower
Birthday of Devika Rani, an Indian movie star, the wife and muse of Svetoslav Roerich, became one of the most favorite holidays in International Memorial Roerich Trust. It is celebrated on 30th March when spring is deep and the Roerichs Estate welcomes more Indian visitors.
The purpose of this conference is to draw attention of the scientific community to solving urgent problems of interaction of culture and civilization in the complex historical context of the XXI century.
On July 26, 2021, the III International Scientific Readings dedicated to academician L.V. Shaposhnikova (1926–2015), the founder of the non-governmental Nicholas Roerich Museum (Moscow), its permanent Director-General and executor of the will of Svetoslav Roerich take place. The theme of the III-rd Readings is “Scientific heritage of L.V. Shaposhnikova. The Origins and Prospects of Russian Cosmism”.
Spring planting flowers at that Holiday dedicated to the Spiritual Teachers of the Humanity has become a good tradition in International Memorial Roerich Trust.

International Women’s Day was solemnly celebrated in the Roerich Estate on a spring Sunday a day before the 8th of March. Due to a good tradition on this day The Roerich Trust welcomes women–creators – artists, sculptors, photographers, the ones who make art and culture a part of their lives. So this year the major celebration event was an inauguration of Buddhist Thangka Paintings exhibition “Rima Rimowa” by Indian artist Krishna Tashi Palmo.

“The Karabakh Conflict” Round Table: to Peace through Culture
On February 24, 2021, the ICR was invited to participate in a Round Table entitled “The Karabakh Conflict: to Peace through Culture”, which was initiated by the Armenian public organization of sociological and political initiatives “Khachmeruk”. The event was held online.
On January 16, 2021, a working meeting of participants of Roerich organizations and representatives of the international cultural community from the 5 countries of Ukraine, Austria, Germany, Russia, and Estonia took place online on the ZOOM platform in Ukraine. The meeting was held with the involvement of representatives of the International Council of Roerich Organizations named after S.N.Roerich and the European Association for the Support of the International Centre of the Roerichs and its public Museum named after N.K.Roerich "EURASSIM".
We are confident that the effective work on the protection of cultural heritage sites and their personnel, the ensuring of the preservation of their activity and of the access of the population to them could provide the most important basis for resuming dialogue and building future good-neighbourly relations of all the parties in Nagorno Karabakh, and thus it could best serve the cause of peace and cooperation.

The Governor of Himachal Pradesh (India) visited the International Roerich Memorial Trust
9th of November 2020 His Excellency The Honorable Governor of Himachal Pradesh Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya escorted by Deputy Commissioner of District Kullu – cum – Director of the IRMT Dr. Richa Verma and other officials visited International Roerichs Memorial Trust. Indian Curator of the IRMT Ramesh Chandra and Russian Curator Larisa Surgina who works for the Trust in the direction of the International Centre of the Roerichs (Moscow) gave the honored guests a tour around the Roerichs Estate.
An armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh that started on 27 September 2020 has resulted in the damage and destruction of cultural property, including historic monuments. This is raising a great concern. The parties to the conflict are not the only ones to suffer losses. The above-mentioned destructions are a loss of cultural heritage, Beauty and Knowledge for the whole humanity.

The Moscow Arbitration Court dismissed the proceedings on the application of the Federal Tax Service of Russia to declare the International Center of the Roerichs bankrupt. The process was completed through settlement by the parties.

In October and November 2019 Shatko V.G., Ph.D, Biology and Potapova S.A., Scientific Secretary of The Botanic Gardens Council of Russia and CIS – officers of The Main Botanical Garden named after N.V.Tsitsin of Russian Academy of Sciences gave talks on Himalayan Roerich Estate at conferences in Leo Tolstoy Museum-Estate "Yasnaya Polyana" (October 8–10th) and in Moscow Schusev State Museum of Architecture (November 18–20th).
On October, 23–34, during the 115th Svetoslav Roerich Birth Anniversary celebration in the Roerich estate in Kullu valley the second Session of the International Academic Interdisciplinary Conference “Russia and the East: the Art, Philosophy and Culture” took place and it was devoted to the subject of deep historical ties between Russia and India.

Nicholas Roerich’s Birthday Celebration in the Green Theatre of the IRMT
The festive program dedicated to the 145th Birth Anniversary of Nicholas Roerich which started with puja at Nicholas Roerich’s Samadhi, hoisting the national flags of India and Russia, grand opening of sculptural portraits of Nicholas and Helena Roerich and with opening of the Russian artist Lola Lonli’s exhibition, continued on the ground of the Green Theatre of the IRMT.
The 145th Birth Anniversary of Nicholas Roerich was marked by an important and joyful event: the installation of the first sculptural monuments of Nicholas Roerich and his wife Helena Roerich in the Himalayan Estate of the Roerichs in Naggar.
This year the traditional Autumn Festival in the Himalayan Roerich Estate is dedicated to the 145th Birth Anniversary of Nicholas Roerich and the 115th Birth Anniversary of Svetoslav Roerich.

A Buddhist stupa is dying in Moscow
The Moscow Buddhists are in despair. For a year now they have not been able to access the Buddhist stupa of the “Three Jewels”, which is located not far from the Kremlin on the territory of the old Lopukhins' estate in Maly Znamensky Lane. In 2017, on April 28, the estate was transferred to the State Museum of Oriental Art with the support of the Ministry of Culture.

Media statement of the International Centre of the Roerichs
The International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR) filed a complaint against the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, the first deputy minister of Culture Mr. Aristarkhov and other persons involved for the crime of robbery committed by a group of persons with illegal entry into premises, with the threat of use of coercion that is not dangerous to human life or health, on an especially large scale. The complaint was addressed to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin. The crime resulted in an unprecedented seizure of the unique cultural heritage of the Roerichs’ family at the value of several billion rubles, which had been owned by the ICR.

On 30th January at 11:30 the press-conference of the International Centre of the Roerichs will take place at the press-center IA Rosbalt (building 1, 4/2 Skatertniy per., Moscow). It is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the death of Svetoslav Roerich (1904–1993), the younger son of a great Russian painter Nicholas Roerich, the founder of the Non-Governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich in Moscow. On 19 December 2017 the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has launched a broad PR campaign in the federal media considering the inauguration of the exhibition of the Roerichs’ paintings by SMOA at the Lopoukhin’s estate. The base of the exhibition consists of paintings from the heritage transferred to ICR by Svetoslav Roerich, which was illegally seized by the Ministry of Culture.

Appeal of the International Center of the Roerichs to the people of Russia
Dear compatriots!
It is known that for several years a number of state officials have been doing systematic «work» to discredit, and, in fact, to destroy the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR) and its non-governmental museum named after N.K. Roerich, founded by Svyatoslav Roerich.
We have seen once again that today in Russia there is no justice capable of protecting the legitimate interests of a non-governmental organization. We have seen how officials, in our case, the leadership of the Ministry of Culture, seek to take away all property belonging to a non-governmental organization (we mean the Roerichs’ Heritage) and the cultural heritage site (the Lopoukhins’ Estate, restored by the ICR without government financial support).

April 30, 2017. The national flags of India and Russia, and the Banner of Peace – the world-famous Banner of Culture and the symbol of the Roerich Pact for the protection of cultural properties – were solemnly raised nearby the House-Museum of the Roerichs.
Saturday, April 29, 2017, was noteworthy in the Himalayan Roerich Estate for the opening of the festival “India – Russia – the Roerichs” dedicated to two memorable dates: the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Indian diplomatic relations and the 25th anniversary of the International Roerich Memorial Trust.
Around 9 p.m. on 28 April 2017 [Friday] the Director General of the State Museum of Oriental Art (SMOA), Alexander Sedov and his colleagues, accompanied by a specialized unit with no insignia that would allow their identification, made an attempt to seize the non-governmental Museum named after Nicholas Roerich of the International Centre of the Roerichs and other buildings of the Lopoukhins estate, in which the ICR has been lawfully based since the beginning of the 1990’s, as well as to seize the preserved in the Museum Roerichs heritage.

Exhibition «The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity» in Silistra, Bulgaria

Congress of Intellectuals Declaration: Stop destruction of the International Centre of the Roerichs
A number of recent events connected with the International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR) and its Museum named after Nicholas Roerich should receive attention of the community as they present an issue of great concern.
A week has passed since the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR) was searched. About 200 exhibits were taken from the museum. The siloviki* made a real pogrom in the ICR.
On March 20, 2017 the Arbitration Court of Moscow upheld a lawsuit of the State Museum of Oriental Art supported by Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimuschestvo) claiming avoidance of the gratuitous lease contracts and eviction of the International Centre of the Roerichs from the Lopoukhins’ Estate.

Search procedures in the Museum of the ICR will be appealed in court
The International Centre of the Roerichs (ICR) will appeal in court against the search procedures in its Museum and the withdrawal of works of art, the vice-president of the ICR Alexander Stetsenko informed Interfax.
Now the Moscow Museum named after Nicholas Roerich works on its normal schedule. Employees decide how to rebuild the exposition as the security forces took away about 200 works of art. The vice-president of the International Centre of the Roerichs Alexander Stetsenko is sure that this intrusion was guided by the management of the Ministry of Culture. The Ministry does not give any answer.

Third Volume of Complete Collection of Letters by Helena Roerich
Publisher department issued third volume of the complete collection of letters by Helena Roerich, an outstanding Russian thinker, writer and devotee. The complete collection of letters from Manuscript Department of the International Centre of the Roerichs, includes letters dated 1935 addressed mainly to Nicholas and George Roerich, who at that time were members of Manchurian expedition, to the members of the Roerichs Museum in New-York as well as to the members of Latvian Roerich Society.
ICR prepared for publication the second volume of festschrift by Svetoslav Roerich “Awake Beauty in Your Mind…” Its first volume financed by popular donations was published in 2015. Cost of publication of the second volume amounts to 680000ք, while only 367000ք have been collected.

Papers on the Roerichs Presented at the International Art Conference
A two-day international conference on “Indian Subjects, Foreign Artists” was organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in New Delhi on October 10-11, 2016 to explore the contribution of various foreign artists inspired by India to the local and world art scene and to documenting India’s past.
With the help of the guests from the International Centre of the Roerichs, Moscow, the Indian children were for a while transferred from their native Naggar to the Upper Uimon, saw the peaks and valleys of the Altai and filled in their sublime beauty.

Mrs. Bokova’s visit was a tribute to Nicholas Roerich – an outstanding figure of Russian and world culture, who conceived and offered the Roerich Pact to humanity – the first comprehensive international treaty aimed at protecting the cultural heritage of mankind. |

Festivities took place in the premises of the Helena Roerich Art Academy for Children where the children of Naggar and neighboring villages study dance, music and painting. The Indians and Russians united in honoring the artistic and human genius of Svetoslav Roerich gathered around the sacred fire burnt in memory of this prominent artist repeating after a pujari-priest the wonderful words of Shanti-puja – a prayer for peace and good, a prayer of blessing. “Indeed, only peace leads to happiness, gives hope for success and well-being. May this wonderful blessing guide all our doings, all our creative activities and our hopes,” Svetoslav Roerich wrote. |

| Nicholas Roerich’s Birth Anniversary on 9 October 2014 at the International Roerich Memorial Trust traditionally started with Shanti Puja – a prayer for forgiveness and welfare – hold at the site of Nicholas Roerich cremation (Samadhi) nearby the commemorative Stone from where there opens a view of the majestic white-capped peaks of the twin Gepang – the Mount “M” as the Roerichs would call it. Unknown Tibet. The Great Lakes and Kailas Mountain

| At the beginning of September 2014, a unique expedition of Russian travelers to the area of Great Lakes of Tibet and to Kailas, the most sacred mountain in Asia was completed. The expedition was led by one of the famous explorers of Tiber Mr. Sergey Balalaev. The first part of the route coincided with the route of Tibetan part of the Central Asian Expedition (CAE) conducted by the Roerichs 86 years ago. The expedition was timed to 140th anniversary of Nicholas Roerich. The purpose of the expedition was to follow the route of CAE, to identify the places on the route, and to continue the study of this unique region of our planet, which still remains a blank spot to European explorers due to geographical and, especially, political limitations. This area is one of the most inaccessible territories on the globe. |

Its participants adopted a resolution, which contains the address to the renowned international organizations (UN and UNESCO), heads of states and governments and international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to do everything within their power in order to create understanding in the society of the role of Culture as the true foundation of Peace. |

| The large-scale exhibition project “The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” organized by the International Centre of the Roerichs and the International Roerichs’ Heritage Preservation Committee goes on travelling around India. In early July the project was launched in Shimla – the capital of the Himachal Pradesh state; then the exhibition dedicated to the Roerich Pact opened at the Himalaya Roerichs’ estate in Naggar; on 9 September it was received in the Indian city of Chandigarh, the capital of the two states – Punjab and Haryana. The organizer of the exhibit in Chandigarh was, as in Shimla, the Lalit Kala Akademi (Academy of Fine Arts), its Punjab center. |

| George Roerich’s birthday in the International Roerich Memorial Trust (Naggar, Kullu, India) was celebrated with the inauguration of a photo exhibition “India – along the paths of ancient cultures” by a Ukrainian photographer and researcher Mr. Vitaly Novikov. The photos displayed at the exhibition are the result of the author’s trips along the route of the Central Asian Himalayan expedition of the Roerichs which he undertook with the representatives of the Dnepropetrovsk Association of the Roerichs in 2009-2012. |

Inauguration of exhibition “Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh, India)

| On July 7 at 4:00 PM in the Art Gallery in Shimla a solemn inauguration of the exhibition of the International Centre of the Roerichs “The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” took place. With this event the ICR starts a new stage of an international project that will embrace cities of India. The inauguration of the exhibition traditionally began with “cutting red ribbon” ceremony that was done by the Chief Minister of the State of Himachal Pradesh Mr. Virbhadra Singh and lighting up a lamp (in Hindi djoti tipak) in order to make this cultural event successful. At the inauguration representatives of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, workers of culture, science and art were present. |

| Within nearly 25 years of the history of the Non-governmental Museum of Nicholas Roerich founded by Svetoslav Roerich in November 1989, we had to endure a lot of unwarranted attacks by ill-wishers (including, oddly enough, the Ministry of Culture of Russia), whose aim is to destruct our non-government museum, to withdraw the heritage stored herein and to evict us from the Lopoukhins' estate. |

| Between May 2-6 the functions of the Annual Congress of the European Non-Governmental Organization Europa Nostra (“Our Europe”) supporting the activities of non-governmental organizations of European states aimed at the preservation of the cultural environment and heritage of Europe, took place in Vienna. Placido Domingo, the famous opera singer and public figure, is the president of Europa Nostra. Alexander P. Losyukov, the President of the International Centre of the Roerichs and the President of the International Roerichs' Heritage Preservation Committee, took part in the activities of the Congress. Twenty seven European organizations that had realized a number of projects connected with the preservation of the cultural heritage of mankind in Europe were awarded for their activities in 2014. |

The opening of the new semester in the Academy of Arts for children named after Helena Roerich

| A new semester in the Academy of Arts for children named after Helena Roerich opened in the International Roerich Memorial Trust, in a new spacious house, which belonged some time to Colonel Osborn. The building is situated on a mountain slope, a little bit lower than the Urusvati Institute; one can enjoy a wonderful view of Naggar, the Beas River and the Kullu Valley surrounded by Himalayas. The Osborn House was bought by the Roerich Trust around 10 years ago and was not in use for a long time. This year, it was repaired to admit children to classes of painting, Indian classical dance, music and singing. |

| The International Centre of the Roerichs and the International Roerichs' Heritage Preservation Committee organized the international exhibition project «The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity» dedicated to the 140th anniversary celebration of the birth of Nicholas Roerich and 2014 year which has been officially declared the Year of Culture in Russia. The travelling exhibition was held on February 21 in the ancient city of Tver, famous for its wealth of culture and history. The co-organizers were: Tver Regional Roerich Public Organization, The Tver city museum-exhibition centre and Tver Region department of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (VOOPiK). |

On the revocation of banking license of OAO (JSC) Master Bank by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on 20 November 2013, mass media started prosecuting and casting slurs upon its head Boris Ilyich Bulochnik, who for 20 years has been the Maecenas of the public Museum named after N.K. Roerich. The International Roerich Centre hasn't made any official statements on this issue yet, because the developments were quick and sudden and it takes some time to analyze and think them over. Before long the ICR will make an official statement on the case. |

The Roerich family estate Tatgunni, located near Bangalore in the state of Karnataka in South West India, will be turned into an international academic and cultural center. As Mr Kadakin, Ambassador of Russia in India, told ITAR TASS, it was made possible by a ruling of the Supreme Court of India, which took the decision on the ownership of the Estate land. According to the court decision the Tatgunni Estate will be passed under the control of Karnataka state government. |

President of the International Committee of the Banner of Peace Dr. Alicia Rodriguez cut the red ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the exhibition and invited the participants to get acquainted with the unique materials, which tells about the history of the Roerich Pact and Banner of Peace.

The book «Reflections» by Jonathan Kimelfeld was issued by the «Gallea Print» publishing house. Many times Jonathan Kimelfeld has been the winner of competitions for young journalists. He is one of the youngest writers in the world, a member of the International Association of writers and publicists. The author of illustrations for the book was Gregory Missura, the winner and laureate of many art exhibitions. India Through Children’s Eyes
On November 13, the Indian embassy saw an opening ceremony of the exhibition of children’s drawings that were selected following the results of a drawing contest held this April in the Penza Region, 650 km south-east of Moscow. The committee received more than 300 children’s drawings depicting a faraway and mysterious country. In an effort to express their own vision of a fabulous outland and great ancient Oriental culture young artists used bright colours and unusual materials.

An awarding ceremony of the 7th Moscow open competition for young journalists A Step to Success was held in a big conference hall of the Moscow Government on October 27, 2009. The Grand Prix in the nomination Why Does the Mirror of the Soul Pale? was awarded to Jonathan Kimelfeld, a fellow of the Helena Roerich Charitable Foundation, for his story The Destruction Road. On the ceremony Kimelfeld received the Order of Young talent of Russia – the Charoite star, the highest public award of the Russian Herald’s College. Conference on Central Asian Expedition Held in Bulgaria
A scientific public conference dedicated to the Central Asian Expedition of Nicolas Roerich (1923-1928) was held in the Centre of Oriental languages and cultures of St. Clement of Ohrid University of Sofia (Bulgaria) on October 23 in the presence of representatives of Sophia University, Specialized High School of library and information science, the Bulgarian Academy of Science, the Bulgarian department of the Roerichs International Centre and other organizations. The main conference subject was the history and the results of one of the most important expeditions ever undertaken in Central Asia on the territory of India, China and Tibet. As a part of a conference the representatives of the Bulgarian department of the Roerichs International Centre read aloud a report The Earth Route of Cosmic Evolution by Ludmila Shaposhnikova.

A great event for the Russian and world cultures took place on September 13, 2009 on the territory of a special economic zone The Turquoise Katun River where the opening ceremony of unveiling a monument To Roerich from Altai People was held. It is the world’s second monument in honour of the artist. The first monument to Nicolas and Helena Roerich was built in Moscow on the territory of the Roerichs International Centre in 1999.

Peace Conference Held in Mexico
The Department of Public Information on communication with NGOs of the UN held in Mexico City from September 9 to September 11 an annual conference Disarmament Now! We Work for Peace and Development. After receiving the official invitation to take part in the conference, the Roerichs International Centre, a non-governmental organization to the UN, which regularly participates in such events, put forward a suggestion to organize a photo exhibition dedicated to the first international document on protection of cultural values all over the world, known as the Roerich Pact, that celebrates this year its 75th anniversary. The idea was supported by Maria Luisa Chaves, the Department’s chairman, who was informed about the work of the Roerichs International Centre on popularization of the Roerichs’ artistic and cultural heritage all over the world.

The Roerichs and Tver region, a cultural and educational programme dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Nicolas Roerich’s and Helena Shaposhnikova’s first meeting was held in the town of Bologoe, 363 km north-west of Moscow, from August 22 to August 23, 2009. The programme was organized by a regional Roerich organization in Tver and the community of the town of Bologoe under the auspices of the Roerichs International Centre and it was visited by the representatives from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Voronezh, Bezhetsk, Bologoe and Tver.

On May 29 a creative meeting dedicated to the International Day of Children Protection. The subject of this meeting was the problem of protection of children with new consciousness. They are not like other children, they are persons of great abilities and mental development. They are children of light, who carry knowledges of future, have a keen sense of justice and compassion. They are wise beyond their years and have prophetic gifts. Their art helps them to dialogue with the outer world, because very often adults can't or don’t want to understand their spiritual core.

Open Letter to “Komsomolskaya Pravda”: N.K.Roerich was not the designer of 1$ bill
Series of articles by E.Chernykh about American dollar and causes of the world crisis appeared in Russian newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda” in March 2009[1]. The author asserts that “secret symbols for American dollar were designed by the artist - mystic Nicholas Roerich”. The considerable part of all three articles was devoted to that strange hypothesis. However E.Chernykh gives no convincing proofs in his articles. Moreover the articles are full of evident errors in dates and events, which make his accusations of Nicholas Roerich unsound.

Creative evening Consonance
On April 21 a creative evening Consonance of an artist-cosmist Feodosiya took place in the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich. Her works has been exhibited repeatedly in this museum. In 2002 visitors had a chance to appreciate the brightness of works by this Yakut artist. Last year the exhibition Faces of Legends was a success. Feodosiya carries on Russian cosmism traditions. Made her two-month pilgrimage to saint places of India she found her unique art style – Real Dream Art. Culture - an energetic Heart of Evolution
On April 15 an evening Culture - an energetic Heart of Evolution, dedicated to the Day of culture, took place in the International Centre-Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich. This holiday, which is celebrated in many towns and cities of the world, including Russia, impressed the important event. In 1935 on this day the International treaty for protection of culture (the Roerich Pact) was signed. N.K. Roerich (1874 - 1947), a famous Russian painter and public figure of world importance, offered governments of states to conclude a treaty for protection of cultural monuments, scientists and cultural workers. This pact was signed by many countries. In 1954 it became the basis of the Hague Convention, which was rectified by our country too. However nowadays the problem of protecting culture still remains very keen.

On April 2 a literary evening dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Nicolai Vasilyevich Gogol took place in the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich. The audience saw the stage version «...Her revived power» was presented on spiritual prose of N.V. Gogol and his correspondence with Alexandra Osipovna Smirnova-Rosset – a favorite maid of honor of the empresses Alexandra Fyodorovna and Mariya Fyodorovna and not an ordinary woman of her time.

On the Trustworthiness of Certain Provenances of Paintings by Nicholas Roerich
26-28 November, 2008, the State Tretyakov Gallery held the XIV Scientific Conference titled Expert Assessment and Attribution of Works of Fine, Decorative and Applied Arts. The conference was attended by experts, collectors, and representatives of the largest museums of Russia and the neighboring countries. The International Center of the Roerichs participated in a session of poster presentations organized at the conference. The session opened with a report On the Trustworthiness of Provenance in Assessment and Attribution of Works of Fine Art (with Examples of Provenances by Christie’s and Sotheby’s Auction Houses of Nicholas Roerich’s Paintings) delivered by Galina V. Daruze who is heading the Department of the Works of Fine Art, Memorial Belongings and Artifacts Reserve at the non-governmental Museum by mane of Nicholas Roerich. The main provisions of her report generated much interest and met understanding among specialists.

The town of Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful towns of the Mediterranean with the great history and wonderful architecture. Greek, Italian and Slav cultures united there. Dubrovnik remembers Marko Polo, Francis of Assisi and Titian. An Annual Conference The Best in Heritage completed its work in this ancient town in September. The conference was held with the assistance of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the pan-European Federation for Cultural Heritage Europe Nostra, European committee of the ICOM, National committee of the ICOM of Croatia, administration of Dubrovnik, with the financial support of UNESCO, National committee of the ICOM of Croatia and others.

Zaira Strakhova was born in Abkhazia in Gantiadi. She was graduated from the Musical College after N.A. Rimsky Korsakov in Leningrad and then from the faculty of History and Composing of the conservatoire in Rostov on the Don. For along time Zaira Strakhova was a lecturer and music expert in Philarmony and then a music reporter on TV in Sochi. Eight books by Zaira Strakhova were published on Pedagogy, Drawing, Aesthetics, Musical Art and Concert Practice. At the same time this gifted woman was fond of Literature and Art Creation. Her poems are heartfelt and deep. Her prose is very imaginative and colorful. Her texts are like pictures and pictures are like philosophical essays. This outstanding woman is a member of the Union of the Journalists of Russia.

New publications of the International Centre of the Roerichs

The text is identical with the text of “Signs of Agni Yoga” in Russian (Riga 1937). Modern orthography, punctuation were taken into account, keeping stylistic devices and shades of meaning of the original. This edition of “Agni Yoga” contains selected talks of Helena Roerich with her Spiritual Teacher. The basis of this book is H.I. Roerich’s diaries. Diaries are kept in the Manuscript Department of the Centre–Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich. The first edition of “Agni Yoga” in Russian was issued in Paris in 1929. It contained notes from May 3, 1927 to May 11, 1929. The second edition, issued in Riga, was supplemented with the notes from January 17 to December 29, 1930. The same variant of the book was issued in English in New York in 1931 and in 1954.

Festival of Russian Indian friendship and unity
On March 25-26 in the context of the Year of Russia in India in New Delhi the festival The Roerichs and the Cultural and Spiritual Unity of Russia and India took place. It was connected with the 80th anniversary of the Urusvati Himalayan Research Institute, founded by the Roerichs in Naggar in the Kulu Valley, and 100th anniversary of Devika Rani Roerich, an Indian filmstar, outstanding actress, wife of Svetoslav Roerich (the youngest son of Nicholas Roerich). The festival was organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (New Dehli), the International Centre of the Roerichs (Moscow, Russia) and the International Roerich Memorial Trust (Naggar, India). Two Photo exhibitions were presented at the Festival : History of foundation and activity of the Urusvati Himalayan Research Institute and Devika Rani Roerich.

Open letter to the leaders of the country in defence of the International Centre of the Roerichs
We appeal to you because of the dramatic situation around the International Centre of the Roerichs, situated in the Moscow Mansion of the Lopukhins. The International Centre is threatened to be erected, to be moved from its place. It will ruin the Public Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich, founded by Svetoslav Nikolayevich Roerich, the last member of the outstanding Roerichs' family. This attempt of eviction will break the state obligations.

George Roerich’s flat was robbed
On April 1 a flat, in former times belonged to George Roerich, an outstanding orientalist, scientist, the eldest son of the greatest artist and philosopher Nicholas Roerich, was robbed. A press conference for mass media reporters took place in the International Centre of the Roerichs. L.V. Shaposhnikova, the Vice-President of the International Centre of the Roerichs, Director General of the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich, and A.V. Stetsenko, the First Deputy Director, answered reporters' questions. There were representatives from Interfax agency, Izvestiya newspaper, TVC , Vesti, REN TV channels. L.V. Shaposhnikova explained TVC channel: “We rose the question about the George Roerich's heritage, which must take a worthy place in our country. We applied to the President’s Administration, Ministry of Culture, Foundation of Culture, but nobody payed attention, that after Iraida Bogdanova’s death a certain V.Y. Vasilchik, who has no relation to the Roerichs, had possessed the heritage. We know, that during last time he was selling pictures, canvases of great value, relics and archive documents. Today it's become clear that the heritage has been lost for our culture. Our attempts were not supported, nobody helped us”.

Press conference in the House of Journalist
On March 25 for the first time we celebrated the Cultural workers Day. Meantime nowadays culture itself and its workers are in crisis. One of its display – Moscow art houses condition. A press conference, held on March 25 in the Moscow House of Journalists, was devoted to the raiders’ seizure of buildings and pressing of the capital administration upon capital centres of culture. Participants of the conference were leaders of the House of Culture, Central House of Actors, Central House of Artists, Moscow House of Sculptors, House of Cinema etc.

The Bell of Peace on the Day of the Earth
On March 23 the XI annual action The Bell of Peace on the Day of the Earth took place in the International Centre of the Roerichs. The organizers were: the Russian Cosmonautics Federation, the International Centre of the Roerichs, the International League for the Protection of Culture, the International humanitarian Foundation“Znaniye” by name of K.V. Frolov. The first Bell of Peace was set in the UNO headquarters in New York in 1954. It was founded out of charitable coins of children from all continents. This Bell is the symbol of global solidarity of people of the Earth. In the Bell there are also medals, orders and other honorable decorations from many countries. The Bell is the symbol of hope and aspirations to make a universal peace real. The inscription on the Bell says: “Long live universal peace all over the world”.

145th anniversary of V.I. Vernadsky
On March 12 a solemn evening, dedicated to the 145th anniversary of V.I. Vernadsky, took place in the International Centre of the Roerichs. V.I. Vernadsky is an outstanding scientist-encyclopedias, unique philosopher, naturalist, founder of the teaching of noosphere, biosphere, geochemistry, radiology etc, the greatest mineralogist and crystallography scientist of the 20th century, public figure, founder of a lot of scientific schools. He was called Lomonsov of the 20th century.

Exhibition of Aleksey Leonov Call of the Heart
On March 4 an exhibition of A. Leonov Call of the Heart was opened in the International Centre of the Roerichs . A young 26 years old sculptor expressed himself as a talented master having his own style. Some of his sculptures, realized images of N.K. Roerich paintings, are in the permanent exposition of the Centre Museum by name of N.K. Roerich.

Exhibition of Florists of The second life of flowers Club
On March 4 an exhibition of Florists of The Second Life of Flowers Club under the State Biological Museum after K.A. Timiryazev was opened in the International Centre of the Roerichs. The exhibition is called Creativity and Renovation and timed to the 10years of cooperation of the club with the ICR. The first exhibition took place in 1998. From this time their works are usually exposed in the Museum.

Exhibition of Y.G. Ushkov Lighting up
On February 28 an exhibition of Yuri Grigoryevich Ushkov was opened. Y.G.Ushkov is a sculptor-cosmist. The exhibition is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Y.G.Ushkov and 70 years of his creative work. 17 sculptures and 30 paintings are presented on the exhibition. All his works are illustrated by his poetry.

International Prize by name of H.I. Roerich
The Governing body of the Charitable Foundation by name of Helena Roerich instituted an International Prize by name of Helena Roerich. This prize is set up to encourage scientific research, devoted to the wide philosophic and artistic heritage of the Roerichs.
The Prize will be awarded for scientific research, which have a significant theoretical and applied importance for cosmic mentality development, favouring the broadening of the contemporary ideas abot a man and cosmos in the context of the Living Ethics ideas.
A notice about the beginning of the competition will be placed on the Charitable Foundation by name of Helena Roerich and the International Centre of the Roerich sites, in the journal Culture and Time and other Mass media.

Presentation with a diploma and decoration
On February 12 the staff of the journal Culture and Time, published by the International Centre of the Roerichs, was presented with a diploma and decoration The Golden Fund of Press 2008.
The work of L.V.Shaposhnikova, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Culture and Time, was highly appreciated. This diploma indicates that L.V. Shaposhnikova is an honorable member in the All-Russian public quality mass media organization of high quality.

Exhibition of Feodosiya Faces of Legends
On January 29, an exhibition of a Yakut artist Feodosiya opened at the Nicholas Roerich Museum. It is the second personal exhibition of hers at the Center-Museum – the first one under the title Splashes of the Upper World was held five years ago. Almost all paintings presented at the exhibition Faces of Legends have never been displayed before.

Svetoslav Roerich Memorial Meeting at the ICR
The name of Svetoslav Nikolaevich Roerich is dear to all who care about the artistic heritage of the great family. He was the initiator and one of the founders of the Nicholas Roerich Museum, at the premises of which the 15th Jubilee Memorial Meeting took place on January 30, 2007. At the meeting, Svetoslav Roerich was remembered as an outstanding thinker, great artist, public figure, and a talented scientist. But most of all speakers praised the contribution of the Roerichs to the development of cultural relations between Russia and India and Svetoslav Roerich’s role of the very person who managed to fulfill the last will of his parents to transfer their heritage to Russia.

Drawings of One Short Life Exhibition
On December 25, an exhibition of drawings of two most extraordinary girls – Nadya Rushevaya and Sasha Putrya – opened at the International Center of the Roerichs. Both girls deceased very early, but they had managed to grow into bright and unique artists whose work does not fade against the creative genius of acknowledged masters.
Both girls had no art education, and they never tried to go for it. Their mastership originated from a very special and genuine world outlook, extreme sensitivity and delicacy. And besides – it came from their amazing industry: by seventeen Nadya had created over 10 000 drawings; Sasha who lived only 11 years – 2 000 works. The two young artists thought with visual concepts and could not imagine their lives without drawing.

Magazine of the ICR Awarded with a Mark of Distinction
On December 25, along with several other publications presented at the Press 2008 XV Anniversary International Exhibition, the Culture and Time magazine published by the ICR won the 2008 Golden Press Fund Award. The honorable mark was awarded by the decision of the Social Expert Council under the chairmanship of Vladimir N. Zaitsev (President of the Russian Library Association and Director General of the National Library of Russia) and Victor V. Fedorov (Director General of the Russian State Library, presidium member of the Presidential Culture and Art Council, and President of Library Assembly of Eurasia). Publications honored with the award are recommended to Russian libraries for acquisition for their stacks.

Press 2008, the XV Anniversary International Professional Exhibition, was held from November 21 to November 24, 2007, in Moscow. This year, the Culture and Time magazine, published by the International Center of the Roerichs, participated in the exhibition for the first time. It was the debut of our magazine on the international arena of the print media.

Exhibition of Aleksey Armand Secrets of the Beauty
On November 20, 2007, the Nicholas Roerich Museum mounted the Secrets of the Beauty exhibition of Aleksey Armand’s works. The exhibition featured about 100 works of the artist: water-color and composite technique landscapes, paintings of philosophic character. Aleksey Armand is Doctor of Geography, an explorer, and pedagogue. Painting is not a hobby for him. It is a natural part of his scientific activities, both research and pedagogical. The artist admits that he was forced to choose water-color just because to long expeditions to the distant corners of the Earth one has to take with oneself the paints that take up little space in one’s backpack. However, this involuntary choice has only benefited the creative life of Aleksey Armand. His water-color landscapes are highly professional, his brushstroke is expressive, colors are clear and bright. Most of his sketches are just as complete as small paintings. Apart from their esthetic value they are also educational: by far much better than any photo, they display the life of Nature in places that no man has laid his hands on yet. Doctor of Geography Aleksey Armand uses his sketches as illustrative supporting material in his lectures that he delivers to very different audiences: school pupils at Natural Study lessons, university students in Geography classes, and to teachers attending refresher courses.

Discover Mexico!
The opening ceremony of the Discover Mexico! exhibition took place at the Nicholas Roerich Museum on November 1, 2007. The magic melody of Вessamo Mucho performed by the violinist Sofia Prittchina and the guitar player Kim Zoloev invited the visitors of the exhibition to plunge into the atmosphere of the far away land of Mexico. In her opening speech, Ludmila Shaposhnikova, Director of the museum, addressed the audience: “You will see the real beauty – the beauty of bright colors, elegant ceramic forms, wonderful historical copies of museum exhibits.” Mexico is a unique and mysterious country that has not yet been fully explored. Ludmila Shaposhnikova noted that Mexico used to be the land of the Mayas and the Aztecs whose ancient cultures were traced in the contemporary life of the country. It happens because the transition of one culture into another is accomplished with the preservation of the original roots. We all know from history that the last civilization of the Aztecs fell under the pressure of the Spanish conquista. Strangers – the Spaniards with their own culture – invaded those lands. There was much drama, but centuries have passed and now in Mexico we see a synthesis of the ancient civilizations and Hispanic culture. And this synthesis is accompanied by a marvelous beauty in art.

International Conference at the ICR
The Scientific and Social International Conference the Living Ethics and Science was held at the International Center of the Roerichs from October 7 to October 10, 2007. The conference was organized by the ICR with the participation of the United Scientific Center for Cosmic Mentality Problems, the International League for the Protection of Culture, the International Association of Peace Foundations, the Russian Academy of Education, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the K.E. Tsiolkovsky Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, the Charitable Foundation by name of Helena Roerich with support the UN Information Center in Moscow. Over 400 participants from 22 countries attended the conference, among them 7 academicians, 14 professors, 22 doctors of science, and 40 doctors of philosophy.

Nicholas Roerich’s paintings in Sweden
The Dance Museum in Stockholm houses Nicholas Roerich. From Russia to the Himalayas, the first traveling exhibition of paintings from the stocks of the International Center of the Roerichs (Moscow) that will be open from 28.09.07 to 06.01.08. The exhibition organized by the International Center of the Roerichs, the Dance Museum of Stockholm and the Russian Embassy in Sweden displays 48 works of Nicholas Roerich: 32 sketches from the extensive series of Himalayas and 16 famous paintings of the artist. The paintings were created by Nicholas Roerich in Russia and abroad and reflect different periods of his creative life. Visitors of the exhibition can enjoy Beyond the Seas Are Great Lands, Northern Mountainous Landscape, Scandinavian Saga, The Mountains of Soshing, Bogdo Ula. Mongolia, The Origin of the Indus River, Flying Carpet, and other paintings. Photos and video materials depicting the life of the Roerich family are presented at the exhibition. The exposition is complemented by exhibits of the Dance Museum such as costumes designed by the sketches of Nicholas Roerich for the staging of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.

The hall of the Central-Asian Expedition at the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich now glitters with new bright colors. On the shining frieze covering the top part of the walls appears a world of beauty and originality of the East: Buddhist monasteries and mysterious sanctuaries where Mother-Goddess and wise Nagas were worshiped; menhirs and stone sculptures with their mysterious faces turned towards the rising sun; amazing petroglyphic drawing and fascinating dances of Gods… Mongolian Tsam, a painting by Nicholas Roerich recently donated to the Museum and placed in the hall of the Central-Asian Expedition, allows to feel the mystery of the ancient ritual, to see the faces of deities looking down on us from Buddhist thankas.

A Tour of Hearty Relics at the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich
We invite you to visit our exhibition of ancient Buddhist relics. The collection contains relics of the great Teachers of the past: Buddha Shakjamuni, Ananda, Sariputra, Lama Atisha, Lama Tsongkhapa, Milarepa, Nagarjuna, Lama Yeshe, Ribura Rinpoche and of other outstanding Buddhist masters.
