The International Centre of the Roerichs in the People's Republic of China

Professor V.V. Frolov, Deputy Director General of the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich, Head of the USC CT of the ICR, visited the People's Republic of China as a member of the delegation of the International Public Movement Estern Dimension.

The International Public Movement Estern Dimension was founded by initiative of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The Movement works under the political leadership of the Russian President, Russian Government, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation to support in establishing direct contacts between regions, cities, and businessmen of Russia and ASEAN, and also to assist in holding exhibitions, forums, congresses, and conferences.

Members of the delegation visited the World Exhibition EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. At the Round Table in the Russian pavilion Prof. Frolov spoke about the International Centre of the Roerichs' activity. He noted that part of the Central-Asian Expedition organised by the Roerichs in the thirties of the last century was held on Chinese territory. His speech was of great interest not only for Chinese journalists and businessmen but for Russians, living in Shanghai and attending the Round Table.

Prof Frolov also visited the Harbin International Economy and Trade Fair where he met with members of the editorial board of Russian-language magazine «The Partners» - body of the press center of the State Council of China. Journalists asked many questions related to the Roerichs stay in Harbin in the thirties of the last century. This topic was also discussed with Mr Tom Hue, Head of the People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries of Hayluntszyan province. Mr Hue became interested in the proposal to organize in Harbin an exhibition of paintings by Nicholas and Svyatoslav Roerichs from the ICR collection.
