At the Borders of the Other Worlds

On April 19, 2011 the International Centre of the Roerichs provided 83 paintings from the collection of the unique cosmist artists for the exhibition in the Art Gallery in Kaliningrad. The exhibition was organised for the first time as part of the International cultural and educational project «Through the Earth's gravity» dedicated to the Russian Year of Cosmonautics and the 65th Anniversary of Kaliningrad region. Paintings by the members of the legendary group «Amaravella», such as B.A. Smirnov-Rusetsky and V.T. Chernovolenko, were included in the exhibition. Their creativity was formed and developed under the direct influence of Nicholas Roerich and evolutionary ideas of the Living Ethics — the philosophy of Cosmic Reality.

In 1993, B.A. Smirnov-Rusetsky's last year, his personal exhibition was held in Kaliningrad. An interview with this remarkable master made on the Kaliningrad TV is preserved in the archive of the ICR. Therefore the exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to hear the speech of this true intellectual.

The unusual world of lofty and real images of the Otherness was represented in the paintings by Oleg Vysotsky, Alexander Maranov, Tatiana Turkulets, Igor Anisiforov, Nina Volkova, Galina Sokolovskaya, Feodosia Ivanova, Alexander Belov and many others.

The theme of Cosmism is deep and multifaceted like the Cosmos itself. Each artist's creativity is individual. Each of them has his own style and palette. But they are all united by love for Beauty and the same spiritual idea expressed in musical forms and colours of their paintings. These paintings help us realise the Eternal link between Cosmos and human being, and many other ideas.

The organisation of the exhibition «At the Borders of the Other Worlds» was facilitated by the Kaliningrad region Ministry of Culture, Kaliningrad Regional Museum «Art Gallery» and the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich. It will be on view till June 5, 2011.
