Exhibition “The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” in Kovrov

On April 10 in Kovrov Historical and Memorial Museum took place the next phase of the international project , "Roerich Pact. History and Modernity". Kovrov is the first of the cities of Vladimir region , which hosts the exhibition. The event is timed to the Year of Russian culture and the celebration of the 140th birth anniversary of Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947), author of the first international treaty "On the Protection of Artistic and Scientific Institutions and Historic Monuments".

The exhibition was opened with live performances of the vocal ensemble "Kovrovsky singers " directed by V.I. Zavazalski. N.A. Poyarkova, honored worker of culture, the chairman of the Kovrov city Administraion Committee on Culture, Tourism , Youth policy addressed the visitors of the Exhibition with greeting words. She spoke about the importance of culture in the modern world and the immense contribution of Nicholas Roerich in the struggle for peace.

"We are looking now for national idea which would bring together all the peoples of our country. This very idea has long been suggested by our great compatriot - Nicholas Roerich " said N.A. Poyarkova.
