Ceremony of destruction of the mandala
On June 21, on Saturday, the first part of the International festival Russia - India - Tibet was over. The visitors had a rare chance to watch the intensive work of the monks from the greatest Buddhist monastery Drepung Goman. The monks created a mandala, a piece of sacred art. They used marble coloured sand for their work. Mandala was devoted to the Green Tara goddess who shows compassion and love to all human beings comparable with mother's care to her children.

The International Centre of the Roerichs and the Institute of Natural Science History and Techniques after S.I.Vavilov of the Russian Academy of Sciences signed an association agreement.

the Institute of Natural Science History and Techniques after S.I.Vavilov of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the International Centre of the Roerichs will cooperate in a wide range of questions, connected with research of Roerich subject, the Living Ethics and Cosmic Mentality. Including consultations for seekers of doctor's and candidate's degrees.

The Festival Russia-India-Tibet in the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich
On June 14 in the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich the opening of the Festival Russia-India-Tibet took place. During the festival monks from the Buddhist monastery Drepung Goman will create a colored marble sand mandala, devoted to Green Tara (Savior, translated from Sanskrit language). Green Tara is the most popular goddess of the Buddhism mythology. Green Tara is the symbol of deep wisdom. She helps everybody who asks help on the way to spiritual perfection.

30.05.2008 Programme Nicholas Roerich. An artist, a scientist, a thinker, a humanist in Bulgaria

From May 13 to June 2, 2008 in Sofia there was a jubilee Programme Nicholas Roerich. An artist, a scientist, a thinker, a humanist under patronage of the President of Bulgaria Georgy Pirvanov and the ambassador of Russia in Bulgaria Anatoly Popov. It took place in the National Museum The Earth and People. The Programme is devoted to the 80th Anniversary of the Central Asian Expedition of Nicholas Roerich and 30th anniversary of the programme Nikolay Konstantinovich Roerich, held by committee of culture of Bulgaria under the direction of Ludmila Zhivkova. It is an important event during The Year of Russia in Bulgaria.

16.05.2008 The Governing body of the International Centre of the Roerichs was honoured with the high awards of India

In May in India in the President Palace Rashtrapati Bhavan the ceremony of awarding the high state awards of India took place. Equally with the outstanding Indian figures two representatives of Russia were awarded. They were the former President of the International Centre of the Roerichs Y.M.Vorontsov and People’s Artist of Russia G.U.Pechnikov.

Exhibition Music in Graphics of Zaira Strakhova
On May 6 an Exhibition Music in Graphics of Zaira Strakhova was opened in the International Centre of the Roerichs. The Exhibition of this original Abkhazian artist will be opened till June 1. Visitors can see a great number of drawings with refined and graceful compositions, expressing the author's deep thoughts.

Zaira Strakhova was born in Abkhazia in Gantiadi. She was graduated from the Musical College after N.A. Rimsky Korsakov in Leningrad and then from the faculty of History and Composing of the conservatoire in Rostov on the Don. For along time Zaira Strakhova was a lecturer and music expert in Philarmony and then a music reporter on TV in Sochi. Eight books by Zaira Strakhova were published on Pedagogy, Drawing, Aesthetics, Musical Art and Concert Practice. At the same time this gifted woman was fond of Literature and Art Creation. Her poems are heartfelt and deep. Her prose is very imaginative and colorful. Her texts are like pictures and pictures are like philosophical essays. This outstanding woman is a member of the Union of the Journalists of Russia.

Agni Yoga
The book Agni Yoga was published.
The text is identical with the text of “Signs of Agni Yoga” in Russian (Riga 1937). Modern orthography, punctuation were taken into account, keeping stylistic devices and shades of meaning of the original. This edition of “Agni Yoga” contains selected talks of Helena Roerich with her Spiritual Teacher. The basis of this book is H.I. Roerich’s diaries. Diaries are kept in the Manuscript Department of the Centre–Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich. The first edition of “Agni Yoga” in Russian was issued in Paris in 1929. It contained notes from May 3, 1927 to May 11, 1929. The second edition, issued in Riga, was supplemented with the notes from January 17 to December 29, 1930. The same variant of the book was issued in English in New York in 1931 and in 1954.

22.04.2008 Day of Culture in the International Centre of the Roerichs

the Roerich Pact
On April 15 a creative evening, dedicated to the International Day of Culture, took place in the Optical Theatre in the International Centre of the Roerichs. On April 15 in 1935 representatives of 21 republics of America signed the first agreement of the Protection of Scientific and cultural Monuments, known as the Roerich Pact. Nicholas Roerich, the author of this Pact, called 'to keep that day in memory as a sign of the radiant future. On the initiative of the International League for the Protection of Culture from 1998 this day (April 15) is celebrated as the Day of Culture.
