A new season of creative evenings was opened in September with a programme Eternal Secret of Love dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Nicolas Roerich’s and Helena Shaposhnikova’s first meeting.

A presentation of an album Boris Messerer. Water Colours on the occasion of Messerer’s exhibition in the Nicholas Roerich Museum was held in trade house Biblio-Globus on September 23.

22.09.2009 Exhibition of Roerich’s Paintings Held in Barnaul

The collection of paintings by Nicholas Roerich The Singer of Sacred Mountains is exhibited in the State Museum of History of Literature, Art and Culture of Altay in Barnaul from September 11 to November 8, 2009.

21.09.2009 The Nicholas Roerich Museum Acquires New Canvases

The acquisition of two outstanding canvases Portrait of Nicolas Roerich in Tibetan clothes by Svetoslav Roerich and The Greatest and Holy Tangla by Nicolas Roerich became a significant event for the Nicolas Roerich Museum. New canvases presented to the Museum smoothly blended with the exposition of the Central Asian Expedition Hall, stressing its sounding and attracting the audience’s attention.

20.09.2009 To Roerich from Altai People

A great event for the Russian and world cultures took place on September 13, 2009 on the territory of a special economic zone The Turquoise Katun River where the opening ceremony of unveiling a monument To Roerich from Altai People was held. It is the world’s second monument in honour of the artist. The first monument to Nicolas and Helena Roerich was built in Moscow on the territory of the Roerichs International Centre in 1999.

19.09.2009 Peace Conference Held in Mexico

The Department of Public Information on communication with NGOs of the UN held in Mexico City from September 9 to September 11 an annual conference Disarmament Now! We Work for Peace and Development. After receiving the official invitation to take part in the conference, the Roerichs International Centre, a non-governmental organization to the UN, which regularly participates in such events, put forward a suggestion to organize a photo exhibition dedicated to the first international document on protection of cultural values all over the world, known as the Roerich Pact, that celebrates this year its 75th anniversary. The idea was supported by Maria Luisa Chaves, the Department’s chairman, who was informed about the work of the Roerichs International Centre on popularization of the Roerichs’ artistic and cultural heritage all over the world.
