The International Centre of the Roerichs delegation headed by Mr Yury Kalinchenko, Head of the International Department of the ICR, took part in the 14th International Conference of National Trusts which was held in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on October 12-15, 2011. More than 300 international delegates from National Trusts and like-minded organizations as well as heritage conservation experts and professionals from Canada and around the world participated in the Conference.

The theme for «Victoria 2011» - «Connecting People, Places and Stories: New Strategies for Conservation in a Changing World» focused participants attention on coordination of joint activities and sharing experiences between organizations and individuals to meet the new challenges and opportunities in the field of heritage conservation that clearly delineated at the beginning of the 21st Century.

Conference sessions and special workshops explored new approaches to the protection and preservation of special places as well as the stories, traditions, languages and cultures that give them meaning. The key Conference goal was to identify ways to successfully engage people and communities in this noble work.

The International centre of the Roerichs became an associated member of the International National Trusts Organisation (INTO) only a month before the Conference in Victoria. For the ICR delegates this Conference became a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the practical activities of the INTO as well as to establish working relationships with National Trusts representatives.
