“Beauty - the foundation of Cosmos.” Interactive program at the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children of the International Roerich Memorial Trust in Naggar

The final day of the Spring Festival of Culture at the International Roerich Memorial Trust, dedicated to the 140th Birth Anniversary of Helena Roerich, was marked by the informative and creative interactive program “Beauty – the foundation of Cosmos”, which took place on May 5 at the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children of the Cultural-Educational Centre, IRMT.
The program was prepared in cooperation with the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR, Moscow) and its volunteers, who actively participated in the preparations of the Spring Festival in the Roerich estate. The main event of the day was the holding of two International competitions of children's paintings among the students of the Academy.
“Beauty - the foundation of Cosmos” was the theme of the first competition, organized by the ICR and the Helena Roerich Foundation (Moscow).
“Banner of Peace in Space” was the theme of the second competition held annually by the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship and Federal Space Agency “Roscosmos.”
It’s not the first year, when the children of the Kullu Valley – students of the IRMT Academy take part in these contests, receiving certificates and diplomas, prizes and souvenirs. During the preparation, the children get acquainted with the Roerichs, with their creativity; contemplate what beauty is and why it is so important to keep it on our planet and in the Cosmos. Like all children of the Earth, they dream of peace, friendship and joy, and in artistic communication with the people of India, Russia and other countries, children learn to understand that Beauty, Knowledge and Love stand above all boundaries, and even the difference of languages is not an obstacle for friendship, creativity and understanding.
The students of the Academy also regular participate at the International Festival of Children’s and Youth Creativity “Russia – India: From Heart to Heart.” Their drawings devoted to the members of the Roerich family and to the Kullu Valley, as part of an exhibition of children's works, travel through the cities of Russia, evoking constant interest and admiration. T.M.Merges, the coordinator of the festival, solemnly presented the young artists and their teachers with certificates of the festival participants. Memorable gifts were presented by Russian guests to the Indian and Russian curators of the IRMT, an accountant, and teachers of the children's Academy of Arts. In turn, the guests from Russia received the colorful caps of the Kullu valley as a souvenir.
According to the tradition, the holiday ended with master classes for the making of Russian folk souvenirs, fun games and friendly tea party.
