Painting Exhibition by Artist Sikander Jangra and His Colleagues in the IRMT – a Mirror of the Modern Tendencies in Indian Art

On June, 22, 2022 in the Exhibition Hall of the IRMT there was an opening of another group exhibition of Indian modern artworks. The paintings of eighteen artists were presented at the exhibition organized under the guidance of the curator – artist Sikander Jangra from Delhi.

The exhibition was solemnly inaugurated by Russian and Indian IRMT Curators Mrs Larisa Surgina and Mr Suresh Kumar. The artists spoke of their art works and presented those authors who didn’t have the opportunity to come to Naggar. It must be noted that group exhibitions of the modern artists is a very interesting phenomenon. Every exhibition, like a mirror, reflects the main directions and tendencies of Indian modern art. On the one hand, in their creativity artists rely on old artistic traditions, on the other hand, they search for their own way in the art, making experiments with forms and colour combinations, responding to acute social issues, trying different styles and techniques.

Except for Sikander Jangra, this time Monica Sharma, Bharat Jangra, Amit Kumar, Prem Singh, Bharat Jangra, Surapna Senand, Hira Lal Kohli from different parts of India became the guests of the Roerich Trust. They all were united in their desire to come to the Himalayan estate of the great Russian artist Nicholas Roerich and his family to share their art works with the Trust visitors, to exchange their thoughts and quest directions and to feel the flow of inspiration from the fresh mountain air of the Himalayas and the beauty of the Roerichs' paintings.
