Exhibition of paintings "AFTERGLOW" by artist Harsh Inder Loomba

The solo art exhibition "AFTERGLOW" of paintings by Indian artist Harsh Inder Loomba opened on October 9, 2022, on the Nicholas Roerich's Birthday at the Exhibition Hall of the International Roerichs Memorial Trust in Naggar, Kullu, HP. This striking event took place within the framework of the Indo-Russian Roerich Festival of Culture at the Roerichs' Memorial Estate.
Inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of such eminent dignitaries as His Excellency Denis Alipov, Russian Ambassador to India, Mr. Ashok Thakur, a lifelong trustee of the IRMT, Mr. Surender Thakur, head of Manali region, Ms. Dipti Nawal, a famous Indian film actress, writer and painter.
Harsh Loomba displayed sixty-seven of her recent art works, in sizes as big as 8ft and various mediums like acrylics, watercolors, pen & ink etc. The exhibition ran for three days. It was highly appreciated by numerous visitors, tourists and art lovers from length and breadth of India and many countries like Russia, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Germany, Austria, France, Spain and Israel.
Mrs. Harsh is a trained art professional with her career spanning thirty-five plus years of experience in the field. She holds a master’s degree from the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts n.a V.I. Surikov, Moscow and is an awardee of title Senior Fellow from the Ministry of Culture, India. In March of this year, the Ministry of Culture honored Harsh Loomba with a prestigious award for outstanding work in the visual arts.
Painting nature and its hidden values have always inspired her and exploration of shapes, forms and circles representing the Divine life – force or spirit that keeps our reality in motion. Her works are highly intuitive and metaphysical in nature. Many of them are accompanied by poetic lines written by Harsh herself and other poets. “Harsh Inder Loomba, a Noida based painter has created paintings concerned with Nature & environment as a backdrop but with the context of cosmic values expressing her ideas in a poetical manner,” Jang S. Verman wrote in The Earth News, Jammu-Monday, July, 26. “The following lines show her love for poetry and metaphysical nature of things:
Nature’s first green is gold Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf So Eden sank to grief. So dawn goes down to day Nothing gold can stay.”
Harsh Inder Lumba has participated in many exhibitions, plein airs and festivals. It all began in 1995, when Harsh studied in Russia and had the honor to represent India at the International plein air-cum-art exhibition in Moscow and Siberia. Her close collaboration with Russia continues to this day, both in Russia and in India. Harsh Loomba is a great friend of the International Roerich Memorial Trust and regularly takes part in the Russian-Indian cultural festivals held here. And not only in exhibitions, but also in seminars and conferences. In addition, she is a member of the Organizing committee of the children's and youth festival "Russia-India: From Heart to Heart", and some of her paintings are exhibited in children's paintings exhibitions in various Russian cities.
The artist titled the exhibition, which opened at the Roerich Trust, "Afterglow". Afterglow is the light of love and kindness that remains in our lives and in our world after a loved one leaves. The exhibition is dedicated to Harsh Lumba's husband, physicist, thinker, writer and entrepreneur Deepak Loomba, who passed away because of covid in 2021. Love for her son and art help the artist cope with the bitter loss. As Jang S. Verman wrote in his article, art for Harsh Inder Loomba is "a life-long journey in pursuit of perfection and beauty and purpose! So, let the journey be on".
