International Art Exhibition and International Artists’ Camp in IRMT

Paintings by over thirty artists from different states and cities of India (Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Calcutta, Chandigarh, etc.), as well as from Nepal, Bangladesh and Japan were presented at the exhibition which opened on October 5, 2022 in the Exhibition Hall of the International Roerich Memorial Trust. Apart from the artists, the opening ceremony was attended by the guests from India, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Austria. As noted by the Indian and Russian curators of the Roerich Trust this momentous event coincided with the first day of the India-Russia Roerichs' Cultural Festival, held annually in the Roerichs' Naggar Estate in October.
The Society for Prabal Pramanik Academy of Arts, Bhamlada, Panjab was the organizer of the creative exhibition-camp. Prabal Pramanik, the founder of the Academy, world-famous paper cut artist passed away in 2016, but his Academy remains active as a cultural space for art and cultural development, especially in rural India. The Academy's motto is the inspirational words of Mahatma Gandhi: “A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.”
Renowned painters and young artists such as Sushma Raj Bhandari, Virender Verma, Vipna Maharanjan, Prakash Manji, Surya Poral, Amar Naskar, Dr. Archna Singh, Ram Manoj, Tapan Kumar, Devnath, Har Kiran Kaul, Satyender Kumar, Monika, Harita Choudhary, Saron Kumar Mishra, Astha Gautam, Pradipta Vishwas, Arup Chandra, Ishwar Dayal, Professor Saroj Rani, Kishor Nakarami, Abhijit Moulik, Dr. Bhart Bhushan, Abhijit Sarkar, Tachid Shimul, Kanchha Kaji, Vibha Handa, Michiyo Hayodo etc, took part in the exhibition.
This is not the first group art exhibition in the IRMT this year. In their works, various artists used different techniques and means, such as water color and pencil, acrylic paints, oil, and innovative techniques (No Paint Images). Wanting to share their emotions with the audience and provoke them to think, the authors presented paintings on a variety of topics: picturesque and architectural landscapes, images of deities and portraits of people, domestic and religious scenes.
For several days, visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity not only to see the artists’ paintings, but also to get acquainted with the creative laboratory of those of them who were able to come to the IRMT in person. The artists created their new paintings, working directly in the Exhibition hall or choosing to create in the reserved corners of the Roerichs' Estate, which has become the source of inspiration for many artists over the past decades.
