The International Scientific and Public Conference “80th Anniversary of N.K. Roerich’s Central Asian Expedition (1924-28)” was held at the International Centre of the Roerichs on 9-11 October, 2008 in Moscow.
The organizers of the Conference were the International Centre of the Roerichs, the International League for Protection of Culture, the International Association of Peace Foundations, the International Humanitarian Foundation “Znaniye” named after K.V.Frolov, the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics named after K.E.
Tsiolkovsky, the H.Roerich Charity Foundation. The Conference was supported by the UN Information Centre in Moscow.
Informational support was given by “Culture and Time” magazine, “Guberniya” Newspaper, “New Newspaper”, “Hamovniki” Newspaper, TH “Biblio Globus”.

More then 400 persons from 19 countries took part in the Conference. In general, there were 10 Academicians, 10 Doctor of Sciences, 29 Candidates of Sciences. Among them there were the participants from Bashkiria, North Ossetia, Alania, Khakassia, Tatarstan and many other regions of Russia. Besides Russian sciences there also were the scientists from Azerbaijan, Belarus Republic, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Ukraine, as well as Baltic states: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and also Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Finland, France.
During the Conference the workshop of the young scientists was also held. In the framework of cultural programme the photo album by L.V. Shaposhnikova “Along the Route of Central Asian Expedition” was represented, a complex exhibition “80th Anniversary of N.K. Roerich’s Central Asian Expedition” was opened.
