The issues of interaction of culture and civilization are the key ones in the development of world history, and they find a broad response in numerous publications of philosophers and scientists of different countries highlighting the role of culture in human development, the peculiarities of world civilizations shaping and developing, the causes of civilizational and cultural crises, material and spiritual values of culture, cultural heritage preserving, etc. Raising these and many other questions allows more detailed disclosure of the importance of culture, for it to play a great role in the advancement of humanity up the evolutionary ladder.
Outstanding figures of the Silver Age, including N.A. Berdyaev, V.I. Vernadsky, P.A. Florensky, Nicholas and Helena Roerichs and many others paid special attention to the role of culture in the future of Russia and the world, in the very existence of man. Almost all of them found the solution of pressing problems of humanity in the interaction of culture and civilization, spirit and matter. They perceived man as the most important component of the system of the Universe, with moral content of his existence playing a vital role.
The problems of culture and civilization are considered in the creative heritage of the Roerichs, in philosophical teaching of Living Ethics within the context of cosmo-evolutionary process laws, where culture is spirit, and civilization is the matter of existence.
The purpose of this conference is to draw attention of the scientific community to solving urgent problems of interaction of culture and civilization in the complex historical context of the XXI century.
The organizing committee of the conference invites all interested scientists, cultural and public figures to take part in the conference to discuss the following issues:
– ideas of culture and civilization in the works of the Silver Age figures; their artistic, scientific and philosophical heritage;
– the concepts of culture and civilization in the creative heritage of the Roerich family; in the philosophy of Living Ethics; in modern scientific pursuit;
– new approaches to the philosophy of culture, the role of culture in meeting global challenges of the modern world;
– view of the historical interaction of culture and civilization in scientific works of L.V. Shaposhnikova;
– the fate of Russia in the light of facing the cultural and humanitarian challenge;
– the Roerich Pact and its concept Peace through Culture as the path of modern civilization development;
– mainstreaming Living Ethics ideas in the space of Russian and world culture;
– cultural heritage preservation and its role in the vision of the future of the world.
The conference will take place on October 9–10th, 2021.
The deadline for abstracts submitting is no later than September 25th, 2021.
(Abstracts sent to the Organizing Committee later will not be considered).
The volume of the thesis is to be not less than 3000 and not more than 5000 characters including spaces. Font – Times New Roman, size – 14. Page margins – 1.5 cm. Line spacing – 1.5 lines.
The selection of reports will be held on a competitive basis. The Organizing Committee will notify on the inclusion of reports in the conference program no later than September 28th, 2021.
Time limit for statements is 20 minutes.
