21.05.2012 Celebration of the Roerich Pact and the Banner of Peace in Bulgaria Dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Second Conference for the Roerich Pact and the Banner of Peace in Bruges


On May, 2012 in the Roerich Hall of the National Gallery for Foreign Art, Sophia a commemorative meeting dedicated to the Roerich Pact and the Banner of Peace was held. This event was organized by the Gallery, the Bulgarian National Roerich Society — Bulgarian Branch of the ICR, and the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music.


04.05.2012 General Assembly of the Association of National Committees of the Blue Shield


The International Centre of the Roerichs delegation headed by prof. Alexey V. Postnikov, President of the ICR, took part in the General Assembly of the Association of National Committees of the Blue Shield.


19.04.2012 The International Centre of the Roerichs takes part in the Google Art Project

April 3, 2012 saw the start of the second phase of the Google art-project that represents the best museums of the world on the website googleartproject.com. The event was celebrated in various countries.


12.04.2012 The Banner of Peace in UNESCO

April 2, 2012 saw the grand opening of the exhibition “The Roerich Pact. The Past and the Present” at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The exhibition was organized by the Permanent Delegations of Russia and India to UNESCO in cooperation with the International Centre of the Roerichs with support of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation and UNESCO. The exhibition was timed to the 80th anniversary of the 2nd International Conference for the Roerich Pact and the Banner of Peace that was held in Bruges (Belgium) and played a crucial role in promoting the Roerich Pact as an international legal act (treaty) for the protection of the world cultural heritage.


29.03.2012 The ICR exhibition «The Roerich Pact. The Past and the Present» will be opened at UNESCO office in Paris


On April 2, 2012 the Gala opening of the ICR exhibition «The Roerich Pact. The Past and the Present» will take place at the UNESCO head-quarters in Paris. The exhibition is organised by the Permanent Delegations of Russia and India with UNESCO in cooperation with the International Centre of the Roerichs (Russia) with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation and UNESCO.
The exhibition is dedicated to the oeuvre and ideological heritage of Nicholas Roerich, the illustrious Russian artist, scientist, thinker, humanist, writer, traveller, and public activist.


28.03.2012 The Spiritual Teacher Day in the International Centre of the Roerichs


March 24 is the Spiritual Teacher Day which is traditionally celebrated in the International Centre of the Roerichs. On this day the in 1920 Helena Roerich made the first record of the Living Ethics — a new philosophical teaching. She had been working on the Teaching during her entire life in cooperation with her Spiritual Teachers whom they call in India Mahatmas — the Great Souls.


27.03.2012 The ICR response to the defamation against the Roerichs in the book by Ernst von Waldenfels «Nikolai Roerich. Kunst, Macht und Okkultismus»


On March 8, 2012 the presentation of the book by Ernst von Waldenfels «Nikolai Roerich. Kunst, Macht und Okkultismus» took place in the framework of the literary forum at the Brecht House in Berlin. Representatives of the International Centre of the Roerichs - Mr A.V. Stetsenko, First Deputy Director General of the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich, and Ms Marga Koutsarova, Chairperson of the ICR branch in Bulgaria - attended the event. Mrs Leylya Strobl, Director of the Austrian Roerich Society, Mrs G.K. Ganotskaya, Chairperson of the Roerich society in Reimstadt, and Mr Reiner Shneider, interpreter, were also present at the presentation.
The exhibition is dedicated to the oeuvre and ideological heritage of Nicholas Roerich, the illustrious Russian artist, scientist, thinker, humanist, writer, traveller, and public activist.


17.02.2012 Gala Evening Dedicated to the 133rd Anniversary of Helena Roerich's Birth


On February 13, 2012 the gala evening dedicated to the 133rd anniversary of Helena Roerich was held in the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich of the International Centre of the Roerichs. On this day, it is a tradition to announce the names of laureates of the International research prize named after Helena Roerich established in 2008 by the Charitable Foundation by name of Helena Roerich to encourage the scientific researches on the Living Ethics, the Philosophy of Cosmic Reality.


13.02.2012 Across the Space and Time


«Across the Space and Time» is the name of the exhibition that was opened in the end of January, 2012 at the St. Clement Library of the Ohrid University in Sofia. The exhibition, consisting of the books donated to the library by the International Centre of the Roerichs, Moscow, was organised by the St. Clement Library and the Bulgarian National Roerich Society, the Bulgarian Branch of the ICR. It will last through mid-March 2012.



07.02.2012 Svyatoslav Roerich Commemoration Meeting


On January 30, 2012 the International Centre of the Roerichs hosted an evening in commemoration of Svyatoslav Roerich, the illustrious Russian artist, philosopher, naturalist, and humanist. The evening's highlight was the presentation of the Order of Merit IV grade to Lyudmila V. Shaposhnikova, Director General of the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich.



30.01.2012 Photo-exhibition «The Defender of Peace and Culture» Opening


January 25, 2012 saw a Grand Opening of the exhibition «The Defender of Peace and Culture» at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Smolenskaya square. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of July M. Vorontsov, an outstanding Russian diplomat, who initiated a great period in the history of Russian diplomacy. Occupying the key positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he successfully performed the most complicated tasks assisting the Government in finding the solutions for numerous important foreign policy issues.

On December 12, 2011 the evening in memory of July M. Vorontsov, the outstanding Russian diplomat and former President of the International Centre of the Roerichs, was held in the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich. The event was organized by the Russian Diplomats Association in cooperation with the International Centre of the Roerichs.

December 6, 2011 saw the opening of M. Ciurlionis exhibition «Creation of the World of Light and Harmony» at the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich, Moscow.

November 28, 2011 saw the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the First International Conference dedicated to the Roerich Pact in Bruges at the National Music Academy «Prof. Pancho Vladigerov», Sophia.

The International Centre of the Roerichs took part in the First International Forum «Preservation of the Cultural Heritage» which was held on November 22-25, 2011 in the All-Russian Exhibition Centre, Moscow.

The article «Up hill and down dale» by Dr. Olga Lavrenova was published in the journal «Science in Russia» of the Russian Academy of Sciences (September-October №5/2011). The article was dedicated to the Central-Asian expedition organised by Nicholas Roerich.

On October 28 in the trading house Biblio-Globus a public function “Remote, Yet Close India” was held. India was always a country of mystery and dream. Books, films, guide-books and albums dedicated to this country are always very popular among shop’s visitors.
