30.01.2012 Photo-exhibition «The Defender of Peace and Culture» Opening


January 25, 2012 saw a Grand Opening of the exhibition «The Defender of Peace and Culture» at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Smolenskaya square. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of July M. Vorontsov, an outstanding Russian diplomat, who initiated a great period in the history of Russian diplomacy. Occupying the key positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs he successfully performed the most complicated tasks assisting the Government in finding the solutions for numerous important foreign policy issues.

On December 12, 2011 the evening in memory of July M. Vorontsov, the outstanding Russian diplomat and former President of the International Centre of the Roerichs, was held in the Museum named after Nicholas Roerich. The event was organized by the Russian Diplomats Association in cooperation with the International Centre of the Roerichs.

November 28, 2011 saw the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the First International Conference dedicated to the Roerich Pact in Bruges at the National Music Academy «Prof. Pancho Vladigerov», Sophia.

The International Centre of the Roerichs took part in the First International Forum «Preservation of the Cultural Heritage» which was held on November 22-25, 2011 in the All-Russian Exhibition Centre, Moscow.

The article «Up hill and down dale» by Dr. Olga Lavrenova was published in the journal «Science in Russia» of the Russian Academy of Sciences (September-October №5/2011). The article was dedicated to the Central-Asian expedition organised by Nicholas Roerich.

National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Zanabazar
The exhibition «Nicholas Roerich and Mongolia» is a joint project of the Worldwide Association of Mongoloists, National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Zanabazar, and the International Centre of the Roerichs (Russia, Moscow). The exhibition is timed to the 100 anniversary of the Mongolian National Liberation Revolution, to 10th International Congress of experts on Mongolia and to 85th anniversary of the Roerichs Central-Asian Expedition to Mongolia.

On August 12, 2011 an opening of the exhibition «Architectural Monuments of India» by the Indian artist Shri Kashinath Das took place in the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich.


10.08.2011 An International academic and cultural center will be founded in Southern India


New Delhi, August 9 / reported by H. Protopopova ITAR-TASS/
The Roerich family estate Tatgunni, located near Bangalore in the state of Karnataka in South West India, will be turned into an international academic and cultural center. As Mr Kadakin, Ambassador of Russia in India, told ITAR TASS, it was made possible by a ruling of the Supreme Court of India, which took the decision on the ownership of the Estate land. According to the court decision the Tatgunni Estate will be passed under the control of Karnataka state government.

'Libyan Sahara. Treasures of the World Culture. The Past. The Present. The Future?' - that is the name of the exhibition opened in the Museum by name of Nicholas Roerich on August 4, 2011. The photo exhibition is dedicated to the ancient rock-painting of Libyan Sahara. The exhibition includes rare photos of prehistorical culture artefacts that were founded in the South-West of Libya.
