Roerich Pact. History and Modernity
On July 7 at 4:00 PM in the Art Gallery in Shimla a solemn inauguration of the exhibition of the International Centre of the Roerichs “The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” took place. With this event the ICR starts a new stage of an international project that will embrace cities of India. The inauguration of the exhibition traditionally began with “cutting red ribbon” ceremony that was done by the Chief Minister of the State of Himachal Pradesh Mr. Virbhadra Singh and lighting up a lamp (in Hindi djoti tipak) in order to make this cultural event successful. At the inauguration representatives of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, workers of culture, science and art were present.

Within nearly 25 years of the history of the Non-governmental Museum of Nicholas Roerich founded by Svetoslav Roerich in November 1989, we had to endure a lot of unwarranted attacks by ill-wishers (including, oddly enough, the Ministry of Culture of Russia), whose aim is to destruct our non-government museum, to withdraw the heritage stored herein and to evict us from the Lopoukhins' estate.

07.05.2014 On the participation of the International Centre of the Roerichs in the Annual Congress of Europa Nostra


Between May 2-6 the functions of the Annual Congress of the European Non-Governmental Organization Europa Nostra (“Our Europe”) supporting the activities of non-governmental organizations of European states aimed at the preservation of the cultural environment and heritage of Europe, took place in Vienna. Placido Domingo, the famous opera singer and public figure, is the president of Europa Nostra. Alexander P. Losyukov, the President of the International Centre of the Roerichs and the President of the International Roerichs' Heritage Preservation Committee, took part in the activities of the Congress. Twenty seven European organizations that had realized a number of projects connected with the preservation of the cultural heritage of mankind in Europe were awarded for their activities in 2014.


30.04.2014 The unique exhibition of ancient manuscripts in the International Roerich Memorial Trust


The Day of Roerich Pact in the International Roerich Memorial Trust was celebrated by opening of a unique exhibition of ancient manuscripts from the collection of a scientist and translator Kub Ram Kusdil. The texts of Ramayana and Mahabharata, Vedas, medical treatises and other manuscripts – totally around thirty documents were presented at the exhibition – called forth astonishment and admiration of all the guests.


30.04.2014 The opening of the new semester in the Academy of Arts for children named after Helena Roerich


A new semester in the Academy of Arts for children named after Helena Roerich opened in the International Roerich Memorial Trust, in a new spacious house, which belonged some time to Colonel Osborn. The building is situated on a mountain slope, a little bit lower than the Urusvati Institute; one can enjoy a wonderful view of Naggar, the Beas River and the Kullu Valley surrounded by Himalayas. The Osborn House was bought by the Roerich Trust around 10 years ago and was not in use for a long time. This year, it was repaired to admit children to classes of painting, Indian classical dance, music and singing.


25.04.2014 Exhibition “The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” in Rostov-on-Don


The exhibition dedicated to the Roerich Pact opened on April 24, 2014 in the Don State Public Library in the capital of the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation Rostov-on-Don.


24.04.2014 “The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” continues in the Peace Palace in The Hague


The exhibition is held literally under the Banner of Peace, the distinguishing mark of the Roerich Pact. The day before the Banner of Peace was solemnly presented to the director of the Carnegie Foundation Mr. Steven van Hogstraten. And now it is flapping above the Peace Palace along with the UN banner. Their juxtaposition clearly shows the international recognition of Nicholas Roerich's contribution to the effort of cultural heritage preservation.


24.04.2014 “The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity” in Nizhnevartovsk


Between 12-13 April 2014 the First Public-Scientific Conference “The Kailas Phenomenon and its Role in Man's Evolutionary Development” took place in the International Centre of the Roerichs, Moscow. It is the first ever conference dedicated to the study of the Kailas Phenomenon. The Conference was organized by the International Centre of the Roerichs and the Kailas Phenomenon Research Group (Russia).
