Exhibition «The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity» opened in Tver
The International Centre of the Roerichs and the International Roerichs' Heritage Preservation Committee organized the international exhibition project «The Roerich Pact. History and Modernity» dedicated to the 140th anniversary celebration of the birth of Nicholas Roerich and 2014 year which has been officially declared the Year of Culture in Russia. The travelling exhibition was held on February 21 in the ancient city of Tver, famous for its wealth of culture and history. The co-organizers were: Tver Regional Roerich Public Organization, The Tver city museum-exhibition centre and Tver Region department of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments (VOOPiK).
The exhibition is based on the archival documents of Nicholas K. Roerich (photos demonstrating the origin of the Pact, reproductions of paintings by Nicholas Roerich etc.). Head of the Exhibition Department of the ICR, Mr. Vladimir F. Pupyshev introduced the conception of the exhibition project to the audience and spoke about its popularization throughout the world. Mr. Nikolai N. Chernikov, Counselor of the Head of the Administration of the City of Tver expressed his gratitude to the exhibition organizers on behalf of Mr. Alexander B. Korzin, the mayor of the city.
A program devoted to the protection of cultural heritage with the participation of Tatyana and Sergey Levins, duo-singers and songwriters, became another interesting event. Under the auspices of the program the Chairman of the Tver Roerich Organization, Mr. Anatoly G. Lysikov told the guests about the monuments to the Roerichs located in the Tver and Novgorod regions. Ms. Tatyana I. Chechina delivered a speech on the creation, research work and national defense of the International Centre of the Roerichs and public Museum named after Nicholas Roerich. .
