On November 26, the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT) held a Closing Ceremony of the Academic session at the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts (for children). The celebration took place in the Green Theater of the IRMT, where dressed up children and their parents, as well as teachers of the Academy and the staff of the Roerichs Trust gathered. A musical prayer to the Goddess Saraswati was performed, and Suresh Kumar and Larisa Surgina, the Indian and Russian Curators of the IRMT, welcomed everyone.

This year about 120 children became students of the Academy. For 8 months, every Sunday girls and boys from the Kullu Valley practiced dancing and music, singing and drawing here. Children had an opportunity to participate in various master classes and competitions, visit exhibitions of contemporary artists, which are regularly held at the IRMT. During the spring and autumn Roerich festivals of Culture, the students of the Academy together with their teachers performed in festive programs, demonstrating their musical, painting, dancing and singing talents to numerous visitors from different countries. They happily participated in fun games and entertaining workshops organized especially for children by friends from Russia.

Excursions to the museums of the Roerichs Estate and Urusvati Institute were organized for the children, as well as educative programs introducing them to the life and work of the great Russian family. Wonderful and talented Academy teachers Anshul Kumar, Mamta Thakur, Sapna Thakur, Anup Kumar not only imparted knowledge and skills to their students - they nurtured in them friendship and mutual help, honesty and kindness; taught them to understand and respect cultures of different nations; to love art. “Through Art you have Light” - these words of Helena Roerich are known and remembered by every student of the Academy, and the teachers of the Academy strive to fill these words with meaning.

Especially for the Closing festive program the children together with teachers prepared musical performances, songs and dances, some kids performed solo numbers. The holiday ended with the solemn awarding of certificates. Renisha Shrestha (junior group), Avani Sharma (middle group) and Piyush Thakur (senior group) were recognized as the best students of 2023. Heartiest congratulations to our winners!

The Helena Roerich Academy of Arts (for children) is taking its students on vacation with the hope that in 4 months they will return to their beloved classrooms: after all, studying at the IRMT Academy is one of the most significant investments a family can make for its child; it is the best opportunity for a growing person to step into the Future.
